My friend Kim was lucky enough to get moved into the Guest House of the language school. It's a newer building, nice on the inside, new furniture, cable television and DSL line. She's off to Essen this weekend and here I am taking over her room and feeling pretty much close to the best I've felt since I got here. Although I've only told a selected few about the situation here, I can now elaborate here in public. Right now I am sick with something in my sinuses, lots of pressure going on - scratchy throat and fatigue. I'm sure it has to do with one or a combination of the following factors:
1. Rain everyday for the past four weeks (except for maybe 4-5)
2. Riding a bike in the rain/cold for at least an hour a day
3. Having to shut off the water in the shower inbetween shampooing, bathing, & conditioning
(It makes for a very cold wake up in the morning)
4. The heat is not yet turned on in the house, and it is out of my control at this point
I'm now at the guest house for the next two days and feeling 10 times better already. The heat works, I can take as long a shower as I want, and there is internet. I already knew about myself (and I'm sure most of you too) that I'm not the type to rough it...and actually I'm surprised that I made it this far without getting sick. This nice little break in this dorm room is exactly what I needed. I've decided to not go to class tomorrow, and instead, sleep in my heated room and get better.
We're supposed to go to Heidelberg on Saturday morning and stay overnight...but I'm thinking I might not. I want to be here, in this warm cacoon of a room for as long as I can.
